Diagnosis

Diagnosing ASD can be challenging as there is no medical examination, such as a blood test, to diagnose the disorder. Doctors consider the child's behavior and developmental progress to determine a diagnosis. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can be identified in some cases when the child is 18 months old or even younger. By the age of 2, a diagnosis made by a skilled medical practitioner can be deemed trustworthy. However, it's common for children only to receive a conclusive diagnosis once they reach an older age. Some individuals may only receive a diagnosis once they reach adolescence or adulthood. The delay in seeking early help may result in individuals with ASD not receiving the necessary assistance.
